To Bake or to Play....

I regret to say, that sometimes I don't let Miss O. do certain things just because it will be too messy and I don't want to have to clean it up or her up....but I do believe that kids should have fun and explore ....so there is kind of a conflict of interest. But yesterday I had no regrets.

We were going to dinner at a friend's house and I was bringing dessert. So I decided to make some simple chocolate chip cookies- I decided that Olivia would have a blast "helping". SO I gave her some colorful bowls (her favorite ones), a spoon, a whisk, and some flour. YES, it was a mess, and yes she had more fun than you know!!
By the end the flour was everywhere but it kept her occupied and entertained the whole time I made cookies....who says a 1 year old can't be helpful in making cookies!
Leaving her mark!
I might have given her some chocolate chips as well- winning the best mama of the year award seeing as how she hadn't even eaten her lunch yet...let's just say it was a bit harder to get her to actually eat her lunch---who wants cucumbers when you can have chocolate? Since she was already a mess I didn't even bother putting a bib on her....bring on the disaster!!
Every bit of it was worth it, she loved it, and I loved seeing the look on her face as she played!
We may or may not have ended up like this......

So cute! I always have to remind myself that Jilly can't handle a little treat before lunch. She will NOT eat anything else I give her if she knows there's chocolate around!

Ah yes, there are quite a few times Ben has asked to do something super messy and I have to say no and log it for the weekend when I know I'll have time to tidy up! Rx
