The mess can wait...

So I never really thought I had any OCD tendencies. I am not a perfectionist. At all.

We always joke about my mom having it though. She needs every picture to be perfectly straight...every decoration to be in the "perfect spot". And if you move it, trust me she will know. Lol!

But alas, I am becoming my mom. I want my little apartment to be perfect. I want everything to have a place behind closed doors (difficult in a one bedroom). And the mess starts to really get under my skin. Well.....now I have a baby. Her "gear" is coming out of the wood work. There are diapers, wipes, burp cloths, a swing, a car seat, a bouncer, rattles, toys, blankets, dirty diapers, dirty clothes, etc... Always present, almost never hidden and it's almost a full time job just to keep it clean. And it drives.me.nuts.

But last night I was pondering the important things. Watching this little girl grow up and not missing a moment of it! Time goes too quickly. Before i know it..she will be all grown up. So what is more important? Memories with my girl or a perfectly clean home? I think we all know the answer.

(don't get me wrong...I still believe in a clean and orderly home, but it should never take over your life!)

So this morning my new way of thinking was tested. I woke up at 8 and Olivia was still sleeping. She was beautiful. My head rushed with the possibilities....

Get the apt clean! Hurry hurry hurry!! CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!!!!!! But love for my girl took over and I scooped my little package into my arms. We snuggled...for over an hour. The sun was peaking in at us through our closed blinds and the warmth was divine. I just stared down at her beautiful, peaceful face and I swear it was the perfect moment!

The Mess can wait...

Have you heard the poem "Babies don't keep"? Read it and you will cry. BUT then my cute nana turned that poem into a song and you hear it...you will BAWL YOUR EYES OUT! I'll have to send you the sheet music. But trust me, I cry everytime I hear it now whereas before I just thought it was a cute song. lol
